Description
Dharma Master Daorong's Passing Dharma Master Daorong, before renouncing the world, was the famous movie star Liu Lanxi. One day, while reading and contemplating the wisdom of non-self in the Diamond Sutra, she was filled with joy and gradually awakened to her past good karmic connections and yearned for a monastic life. With her husband's support, and seeing the tranquility and peace that arose from her study of Buddhism, her family gradually accepted her wish to become a nun. Dharma Master Daorong once translated for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Later, she studied Tibetan and, within the Drikung Kagyu lineage, spent many years studying and practicing teachings such as the "Five-Point Path of Mahamudra." She recently passed away on January 10th. During her cremation, signs such as a rainbow appeared. His Eminence Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang Rinpoche praised her deeds: "I rejoice in all the complete funerary rites for Dharma Master Daorong's passing! Firstly, the Master had unwavering faith in the Dharma and a constant, unchanging aspiration throughout her life; she was a true bodhisattva. Before her passing, she was able to fulfill her wish and overcome all difficulties to return from Taiwan to the US to see me. We met three times very easily, and during our meetings, her state of mind was always very peaceful and stable. Just as the sutras say, 'the ripening of karma is inconceivable.' Although the Master did not have a long life, she made very significant contributions to the Dharma during her lifetime. Just like her practice, her final message also mentioned what Gyaltsab Jey said: 'The enlightened guru, one's own mind, and the Buddha are one; practitioners who are without discrimination do not need to perform false devotion.'" The video is an interview by the television station shortly after the Master became ordained. Seeing the Master in Han Chinese monastic attire, speaking about her life and work in the Buddhist academy, with a peaceful and joyful expression on her face, is truly wonderful. It makes one think of what Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche said: "First manifestation, then secret," which allows for a deeper appreciation of the essence of secret teachings. In the Master, we see a model of the integration of both exoteric and esoteric Buddhism. Interview Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2bVZ18Yu_E&feature=youtu.be *Name:* *Location:*
